Buying bags of gravel from a hardware store works fine for a small garden border. But if you need material for a driveway, a large landscaping project, or a job site, bulk gravel delivery is faster, cheaper, and a whole lot easier. Here's what you need to know about ordering bulk gravel delivery in Southwest Ohio.

Why Bulk Gravel Beats Bagged Every Time

The math is simple. A 50-pound bag of gravel covers about 2 to 3 square feet at 2 inches deep and costs $5 to $8. A ton of bulk gravel covers 80 to 100 square feet at the same depth and costs a fraction of the per-unit price  delivered to your property.

For anything bigger than a small patch job, bagged gravel isn't just inconvenient. It's genuinely expensive. Bulk delivery puts the material exactly where you need it, in the quantity you need, without a dozen trips to the store.

What Types of Gravel Do We Deliver?

MW Martin Services delivers the gravel types used most in Ohio driveways and construction projects:

#57 Limestone  The go-to for driveway topping. Clean, angular, and washed, it drains well, stays put under traffic, and gives driveways a finished look. If you're topping an existing driveway, this is most likely what you need.

#304 Limestone (Crusher Run)  A blend of crushed stone and fine material that compacts tightly into a solid base. Used for new driveway bases, parking areas, and anywhere a firm, packed surface is needed before topping.

Pea Gravel  Smooth, rounded stone typically used for walkways, drainage trenches, and decorative landscaping. Not ideal for driveways under vehicle traffic.

Driveway Mix  A combined material that provides base stability and surface coverage in one application. Good for quick repairs and light-duty use.

Not sure which type fits your project? Tell us what you're doing and we'll point you to the right material.

How Much Gravel Do You Need?

Use these rough estimates as a starting point:

For driveway topping (2-inch layer): 1 ton covers approximately 80 to 100 square feet. A 200-foot driveway at 12 feet wide = 2,400 sq ft = roughly 24 to 30 tons. A 100-foot driveway at 10 feet wide = 1,000 sq ft = roughly 10 to 13 tons.

For base material (4-inch compacted layer): Plan for approximately 1.5x the topping estimate due to compaction.

These are ballpark figures  the actual amount depends on your driveway's current condition, existing base depth, and how much material has migrated off the edges over time. We'll give you a precise estimate when we see the job in person.

What Happens on Delivery Day

We keep it simple:

  1. You confirm the drop location and any access notes (gate codes, low branches, soft ground areas).
  2. 2. We arrive with the material and either spread and grade it or dump it to your specification.
  3. 3. If you've requested grading, we shape the surface with proper crown so water drains to the sides.
  4. 4. Your driveway is solid, clean, and ready to use the same day.

We work with homeowners, contractors, and property managers. Large-volume deliveries for job sites are no problem  just let us know what you're working with and we'll make it work.
