Regrading & Compacting Old Crushed Asphalt Lots in Midland, Ohio
How MW Martin Services turned an unusable lot into a solid truck‑ready surface using the material already on‑site.

Years of Settling, No Compaction, No Grade
This Midland property had crushed asphalt dumped around the lot many years ago. No grading. No compaction. No slope. No drainage.
Just a pile spread around by hand and left to settle.
The result:
- trucks couldn’t park without sinking
- grass and weeds grew through the surface
- the lot was uneven and unsafe
- soft spots formed everywhere
- the material was wasted
The customer needed the entire area reshaped and compacted so it could support heavy truck parking.
⭐ Step 1 — Regrading the Entire Lot with the 323E CTL
MW Martin Services brought in the John Deere 323E compact track loader to reshape the entire surface.
This step included:
- cutting down high spots
- filling low pockets
- removing vegetation
- correcting drainage
- pulling material back into usable areas
- establishing a proper slope
Crushed asphalt responds extremely well to CTL grading because the tracks break up clumps and recondition the material.
⭐ Step 2 — Reworking the Existing Material (Saving the Customer Money)
Instead of hauling in new stone, the existing crushed asphalt was:
- loosened
- redistributed
- blended
- leveled
- compacted
This saved the customer hundreds of dollars while still producing a professional‑grade surface.
Crushed asphalt is one of the few materials that can be “recycled” on‑site and still perform like new when handled correctly.
⭐ Step 3 — Full Compaction for Heavy Truck Use
Once the lot was shaped, the entire surface was compacted to create a solid base capable of supporting:
- dump trucks
- work trucks
- trailers
- equipment
- daily traffic
Compaction is the difference between:
a soft, sinking lot and a strong, stable parking area.
Midland’s clay soil requires proper compaction to prevent rutting and washouts.
⭐ Final Result: A Solid, Level, Truck‑Ready Lot
The finished surface:
- is fully compacted
- drains correctly
- has no soft pockets
- is level and smooth
- supports heavy trucks
- looks clean and professional
The customer went from an unusable lot to a functional, durable work surface using the material they already had.

⭐ Why This Matters for Midland, Ohio
Midland is full of:
- older gravel driveways
- crushed asphalt dump sites
- rural parking areas
- equipment lots
- clay‑heavy soil
- low‑lying terrain
Most of these surfaces were never properly graded or compacted.
That’s why Midland properties benefit so much from:
- regrading
- compaction
- drainage correction
- crushed asphalt reconditioning
This project is a perfect example of how a neglected lot can be transformed into a reliable, year‑round surface.
