Building a Construction‑Grade Driveway on Rt. 132 (Goshen, Ohio)

Martin M • September 23, 2026

When a property owner on Rt. 132 reached out about building a new driveway, they weren’t looking for a simple resurfacing job — they needed a full construction‑grade access lane capable of handling equipment, deliveries, and future development. The original path was uneven, soft in spots, and had  nice little hill to cut through.

This project became a perfect example of how proper grading, drainage correction, and limestone installation can transform a property and set the foundation for everything that comes next.

Day One: Cutting In the Driveway & Shaping the Land

The first day was all about building the structure of the driveway. We started by clearing the access lane and removing soft material that couldn’t support vehicle traffic. Once the weak spots were out, we cut into the hillside and shaped the banks to create a clean, safe path.

The most important part of Day One was establishing the correct drainage slope. Goshen’s terrain can hold water, especially after storms, so we graded the driveway to shed water naturally instead of letting it pool or wash out the stone. We also built mowable banks along both sides, giving the customer a clean, finished look that will be easy to maintain.

By the end of Day One, the driveway was fully shaped and ready for stone delivery.

Day Two: Limestone Delivery, Compaction & Final Grading

Day Two was where the driveway came to life.

We delivered and installed:

  • 60 tons of Type‑C limestone for the base
  • 60 tons of #304 limestone for the top layer

The Type‑C created a strong foundation, and the #304 locked everything together with a smooth, compacted finish. After spreading the stone, we graded the entire lane, shaped the edges, and compacted the surface for long‑term durability.

The final grading pass tied everything together, leaving the driveway clean, level, and ready for construction traffic.

Project Complete (For Now)

The driveway is now fully built and performing exactly the way it should. The customer has future plans for the property, so this project will continue later — but the access lane is complete, stable, and ready for daily use.

This Rt. 132 project shows what happens when a driveway is built correctly from the ground up: proper slope, compacted stone, clean edges, and a surface that holds up to weather and equipment.
